so, its been a while since I blogged, an a bit has happened since then. first there was spring break, and I cant actually remember what I did over the break, so It must have been good. then fourth quarter started and into the woods went up, which was a blast, and I got to nap on a comfy bed when I wasn't working. but then the show went down and I was sad. however, going to the cast party was interesting, as they started watching the video of the play that the the host had took, and they laughed at absolutely everything, they even backed it up at a few places to watch a scene over again. after that the orchestra went on a trip to disneyland, and that was fun. we played at carnation square and rocked. for some reason whenever we perform its at least 3 or more times better than the last rehearsal...weird. anyhoo, I think i'm gonna write a guide to efficient existance at disneyland, including tips for the order you should go on rides in, where to get food, and negotiating through crowds. but after the disney trip, the school went and decided to break one of the more retarded world records ever, the largest breakdance handwave...talk about obscure. they even had to do a demonstration of it for people to understand what the hell they were talking about. anyhoo, that pretty much brings us up to now. I'm planning on going and getting a job soon, so that should be interesting, the whole work thing didnt really work out last time, but maybe it will this time around. by last time I mean when I worked at harkins and I got fired, they claimed I quit, because I missed three days, even though one of the days, I called in and told a manager I thought I might be sick and he told me that I should stay home, and the other two days it appears that they had 100% of the available workforce scheduled, and I could find absolutely no one to cover my shift. it sucked. but I soldiered on and sat on my ass the rest of the summer, so not all was lost. one thing that really sucks about it is that I actually gave up spending my fourth of july with my family to help out (someone had called in sick) and in addition, I wasnt even able to see the fireworks coz the person who was supposed to relieve me never showed. but enough of that. I hope that getting a job this time around works out better. I think i'm gonna apply at frys and kohls to start with, but also apply at...elsewhere...but not at restaurants, I would like to try and stay out of the food industry. just the idea of having to work around food all day whilst not being to eat any of it sounds like torture to me. well, I gotta log off now, until next time.

minty fresh
so, i just installed linux mint on my computer, and its quite exciting. for those of you who (heavens to mergatroid) dont know what linux is, its an open source OS, which roughly translates to: kicks windows and macs asses and ya dont have to pay a dime. its so awesome and effective, you can run your whole computer off of a cd. awesome, no? anyhoo, pretty soon i'm gonna install a "virtual machine" which means that i run the windows operating system inside of linux, and it actually runs better than if i were to just be running windows. now one of the other neat things about linux is that i get a ton of programs with it absolutely free. one of the ones i'm most excited about is called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which is almost exactly like photoshop only that its free and i havent figured out yet how to deselect parts of images in it. with the virtual machine thing, i should be up and running on at least three games soon (BFME 2, RCT3 and RF online)
i'll finish this on the morrow, my parents are kicking me off

meh
today, nothing happened...actually thats an exaggeration, i did a few things, but nothing of much note. i got to test out linux mint, which i'm going to be changing my laptop over to soon. also, there might be a computer in our house soon that i could use for gaming, me and my dad put together a linux box that is gonna have a virtual machine on it soon that i could maybe install a few games on, but who knows. i got pics of 5 of my paintings today, but have at least two more that i need to get decent pics of. i'll upload them tomorrow in another art post like before, hopefully with better formatting so people dont have to scroll down as much between pics.
more thoughts on ssbb; i really like the story mode, its interesting, and the levels are varied enough to keep you from too much boredom. although one thing i've noticed is that there are often long stretches of monsterless wasteland, which i think might have something to do with the fact that i was playing on normal mode. who knows. i should be getting my own copy sometime next week, but thats only if i come into about $20 between now and then. but who knows. well, thats all for tonight.

march 11
so, i finished my book report last night, turned it in today. skipped english class though, we're doing this stupid sex ed thing this week where they take an entire week and basically just tell you "if you have sex, you will get herpes and die". so, i went to the art room and did the first two silk screens for my warhol piece, which i'll post here once i'm done with it. i've got some paintings that i should be getting pics of tomorrow that i'll post up here when i get home (at about 2, yay for activity wednesdays!).
my thoughts on brawl: great game, but i have a few problems with it, chief among them is that the characters dont move quite like they should. i cant quite put my finger on how that is, but i know that there is a major difference in the way they handle. also, i dont really like the new stages. my least favorite is the earthbound level. it sucks like an oreck xl! things i like about brawl include the new characters, although i havent gotten to snake or sonic yet, and i'm looking forward to the former more than the latter. anyway, it seems a bit like halo 3 in that they tweaked some of the things that were fine the way they were, and in doing so made the game a little bit worse

march 10
so, today my friend fifi (not his real name) walks up to me and says "hey, i've got something for you" and hands me his copy of super smash brothers brawl. he is loaning it to me till wednesday and i didnt even ask, so i'm pretty excited. but before i get to play it, i have to finish a report on "free culture" by lawrence lessig. a great book that i highly reccomend to anyone. so, i'm gonna go work on that now, and finish this later
so, i'm done with the report now, i think i'll post it next. once my parents get home, i'm gonna play brawl, that should be fun. once i get the game i'll post a review of it. which reminds me, i need to write a review of the sedona film festival.
